2018 FunFest

The itinerary for the day's events are listed below:

11 am-1 pm Touch a Truck
Come out with the family and explore big trucks inside and out. Climb in and out of an Alsip Fire Department fire truck. Take a ride in the Alsip Police Department’s trackless train. Jump in a Public Work’s truck. You’ll be able to Touch the trucks and cars that make your life safe and convenient!!!

11 am-2 pm Alsip All-Stars (Obstacle Course Challenge)
Ages 3-16 will participate in a Sports themed obstacle course in the grass area located inside the Sprayfari Aquatic Park. Participants will work their way through standard obstacles, such as Hurdles, cones, balance beam, tires, and others. Throughout the course, there will be several stops where participants will do their best to complete the sports challenge. These challenges will include; a slip-n-slide, 3 hoops at 3 different lengths, shooting a basketball (little hoops) and shooting a soccer ball at 3 different targets.

12-5 pm Open Swim
Enjoy an afternoon of free swimming. There will be a DJ spinning tunes, while we offer Largest Splash competitions during safety breaks. Water-themed games and activities will also be offered in the grassy portion of the Aquatic Park. Children must be supervised. Entry will be cut off when the capacity of the facility is met.

12:00 pm Skateboard Competition
Grab your “board” and join the party at the Alsip Park District Skate Boarding Competition The Competition will be held at the Alsip Skate Park located at 119th & Kostner Ave. beginning at Noon. Participants will be judged on overall performance and "Best Trick" in the following divisions; 13 & under, 14 -17 and 18 & up. Win prizes from well-known companies in the skateboarding industry! Register at the Alsip Park District located at 12521 S. Kostner Ave. A parent-signed waiver is required at time of registration. Personal protective equipment is highly recommended. Free T-shirt to first 50 registered.

2-4:30 pm Alsip’s Got Talent (Adult, Teen & Youth Divisions)
The Alsip version of “America’s Got Talent” can find you performing in front of your friends that never knew you had talent. Two categories are offered: Adult Division 16 & up, and Youth Division: 15 & under. The overall winners of each division will take home a cash prize of $300. Get past our judges to the final round and go home with the cash. All performers must fill out a form at the Apollo Recreation Center by the deadline of Friday, June 9. Note: To avoid any technical difficulties, please make sure your CD works on a CD player.

4-5pm Pie Eating Competition
It’s back, the Alsip Pie Eating Competition. Sign up for the event will occur the day of the
event. Eight years old and up will be able to compete. The task is to eat a portion of a
pie the fastest. There will be a maximum number of competitors in each age division
so sign up when you get to the FunFest grounds.

4-8 pm Carnival Rides
Kids to adults can enjoy these FREE carnival rides. We will have a Fire Truck Moon Jump, the Berry Go Round, an 80’ long Fun Slide, the Windjammer Swings, 24’ tall Climbing
Wall and a Kiddie Ferris Wheel. In addition, we will also have the Alsip Park District
bounce house and sports inflatable.

5:30-9:30 pm Live Entertainment
We will have two live bands performing, the first band will perform from 5:30-7:00 pm
and the second will perform from 7:30-9:30 pm. Arrive early to enjoy an evening of live
entertainment and reserve a spot for our Fireworks show.

9:30 pm Fireworks
Bring your blanket, chair and join us for our annual Fireworks show. We try to top
ourselves each year and we hope you can be a part of the Alsip Show!!! Sparks will fly
at dusk following the band. Note: We reserve the right to alter the time of fireworks, due to
weather conditions.
