Redevelopment of Apollo Park
The Alsip Park District Board of Commissioners has approved to move forward with the redevelopment of Apollo Park including the submission of an OSLAD (Open Space Land Acquisition and Development) Grant. Please join us on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the Apollo Park, 12521 South Kostner to provide input on this project. The meeting will take place under the shelter, in the event of inclement weather the meeting will be held indoors at the Apollo Recreation Center. The grant application is due July 1 and if successful, construction could begin in early 2017.
We have pavement! The Alsip Park District's west end segment of the Cal-Sag Trail has been paved. Guard rails, fencing and landscape are scheduled to be completed soon but to see pavement makes us happy:)

You can get on the trail at Freedom Park, located at 131st and Cicero, Alsip. Currently the West end of the trail is paved (heading towards Palos Heights-Lake Katherine). Below is an updated map of the Cal-Sag Trail:
Bike the Sag-Family and Cycling Enthusiast Bike Ride
June 6th 10am-3p
Bike the Sag Bike Ride is a brand new annual event that brings families and cyclists together in a fun, active way. Enjoy the brand new trail that was recently constructed along the Cal-Sag. The western segment runs from Alsip in the east to Lemont in the west. On June 6, riders will check in and bike from Chicago Christian High School at the corner of Oak Park Ave and Rt. 83 to the Lake Katherine Nature Center to join the Friends of the Cal Sag as they have the official ribbon cutting for the western segment at 11am. After that, riders can choose to ride to Palos Park, Alsip, and Camp Saginaw. Ride lengths will depend on each rider and can vary from 3 to 20 miles. After your ride, join us for the post race party back at CCHS to enjoy a lunch, DJ, Bike Rodeo, and several local businesses with special offers. Your whole day is an open house and you can choose to stay as short or long as you want. The first 200 pre-registered bikers will receive a swag bag at check-in. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.Â
This High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) will introduce a new and improved you and get your metabolism up in a short period of time. Workouts are 45 minutes in length and will be held twice a week on Wednesday's, beginning at 9:00 am and Friday's, beginning at 9:30 am. The registration fee is $48 for residents and $68 for nonresidents. All classes will be held at the Apollo Recreation Center, located at 12521 S. Kostner, Alsip. The first session is scheduled to begin the week of June 17 and the second session is scheduled to begin the week of August 5. For additional information, contact our main office at (708) 389-1003.
Adult Tennis Lessons
Adult Tennis will be offered during the summer months, beginning in June. All classes wil be held on Thursday evening at the Apollo Recreation Center Tennis Courts. The registration fee is $31 for residents and $51 for nonresidents. For additional information, contact our main office at (708) 389-1003.
Look for our Men's Adult Basketball League in our Summer Brochure
We will be offering a Men's Basketball league during the months of August through October. Registration fees are $600.00 for resident teams and $650.00 for nonresident teams. Now is the time to start organizing your team and plan to join us this Fall.
Co-Ed Adult Kickball League
Register for our Adult Co-Ed Kickball League. This new league will be held on Saturday afternoon at Commissioners Park (located at 126th & Kedzie) and Sears Park (located at 123rd & Trumbull). League play is scheduled to begin August 8. Registration fees are $400 for resident teams and $450 for nonresident teams. For additional information, contact our Main Office at (708) 389-1003.
Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions
Illinois Park Districts, Forest Preserves, Conservation, Recreation and Speciaal Recreation agencies are coming together to ensure healthy, happy and safe future kids. The Park District Youth License Plates make it possible for agencies to offer programs that teach children lifelong health, fitness and nutritional choices. 2015-2016 School Starters Registration Fees
The registration fees listed in the 2015-2016 Spring brochure for our School Starters program are incorrect. The correct fees are listed below:
Session Fee: Residents $230.00/ Nonresidents $300.00
Yearly Fee: Residents $420.00/ Nonresidents $560.00
Note: The yearly fee is a $40.00 savings.

The Summer brochure is scheduled to begin delivery on Wednesday, May 6. Resident registration is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 26. Nonresident registration is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 1.

50th Anniversary Celebration
Congratulations to the Lovett family for winning our April "50th Anniversary Celebration" monthly drawing.
During the month of May, all residents who purchase a Sprayfari Aquatic Park Membership during the month of April 1-May 4th will be entered into our "50th Anniversary Celebration" monthly drawing. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, May 5.
